We’ve arrived in the Hamptons and I could not be more excited! This trip was booked on a whim and all the pieces fell together perfectly.
David and I were watching Barefoot Contessa one Saturday morning and I mentioned for the 100th time how I’ve always wanted to go to the Hamptons and visit all of the specialty shops and farms that Ina Garten mentions in her shows and cookbooks.
Since we already had to go to NYC anyway, David said, “Book it!”
I didn’t waste a minute and immediately started researching.
Since the trip was inspired by fresh produce, specialty cheese shops, and seafood straight from the ocean, we decided to rent a house in order to have a kitchen.
Of course I couldn’t imagine a cooking vacation without my dear friend Petrina who is one of my favorite people to be in the kitchen with (other than my dad, aunt, and grandma and preferably all three together).
With the trip still being nine months away I didn’t think there would be any way she would be able to commit so far in advance. But to my delight she immediately agreed to join us and we had flights and a house booked that week.
We just arrived and our first stop was Scotto’s Pork Store to pick up fresh mozzarella made in-house. Since we arrived late, we also grabbed some pizza and salad to take home for dinner and enjoy with a glass of wine before getting to bed.
Looking forward to sharing our trip with you!
